Having traveled all over, worked with Red Bull, Puma, and many more, the Sessions has proven to be much larger than its 7″ circumference. Little records, big sound — all 45s, all night! DJ PLATURN

If you don’t know, you’d better ask somebody: DJ Platurn lives music. An 18 year veteran of the DJ game, his career has seen him rock parties worldwide including engagements throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, Canada, South America, Scandinavia, and countless venues in his home base of Northern California. He is a DJ adamant on sharing the world’s music with the music lovers within, a mission he’s proudly been succeeding at since he first threw down as a teenager.

The 80’s and 90’s brought him to Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop brought him to the samples, the samples brought him to love and appreciation, and he brings all of these to the table when he steps behind the decks. His selection skills and ability to turn any venue into a “OOOOHHH SNAP!” fest have earned him a devoted following with those who share his passions for the art form of spinning and great music. He’s bringing it to the people because he knows they deserve it.

In 2013 DJ Platurn will leave no party unrocked. You’ll want to be there to see it.

DJ ENKI

There’s not too many of ’em left. It’s a different game nowadays, and standards have left the building. DJ Enki is not one to buckle either. There’s something to be said for standing your ground and leaving the arena with your reputation intact. With that something being said, let’s welcome to the stage…

The man has been DJing for almost 15 years. He’s shared the stage with the likes of Z-Trip, J-Rocc, Melo-D, Kid Koala, Rob Swift, Shortkut, Apollo, Jazzy Jay, Peanut Butter Wolf, Lyrics Born, Brother J (X-Clan), Zeph, Romanowski, Doc Fu and a host of others. He was the main resident for the infamous Money$hot weekly in San Francisco for two and a half years, during which it got named one of the top 5 Hip-Hop weeklies in the country by URB Magazine. How’s that for starters?

Born and raised on the East Coast, Enki grew up listening to DJ Red Alert’s show. Like most DJ’s who started their obsession with the turntables in the late ’80s to mid 90s, the local hip-hop show was church, hence the religious practice of sitting down and listening intently as soon as the clock struck. He attended college in North Carolina, where he connected with long time friends and music cohorts Faust & Shortee, with whom he now shares membership with as part of the renowned Citizenz collective.

But it’s not just about playing shows, it’s about what’s in your musical arsenal, too. These days, the digging is more serious than ever, putting Enki in the big leagues when it comes to the elusive un-used breakbeat, especially with him being all about the sampling when it comes to producing — a take on the art form that is slowly heading toward nonexistence in the synth-heavy rap music world. Guess you just have to dig a little deeper. No problem. Enki’s debut cut, “Kung Fu Kwaku,” went pretty deep. And there’s more where that came from.

Enki moved to Northern California, the Bay Area to be exact, 10 years ago. He’s lasted more than 2. That makes him official. The fact that he’s the newest member of the Oakland Faders doesn’t hurt either. Catch him rockin’ the party these days like a true master, making you nod to that joint that you had no idea was about to be your favorite. It’s likely to be self-produced.

DELGADO

Born and raised in Oakland, California, Delgado had his first gig in 1991. He moved to Los Angeles in 1994, and began working at radio station KSPC, where he hosted the most listened-to reggae show in Los Angeles for five years, while still keeping on top of hip hop by hosting a well known weekly open mic night.

During his 10 years in L.A., Delgado was in demand at the most popular clubs and with the most famous artists, such as Buju Banton and Spragga Benz.

He has also released scores of mixed CDs (and tapes, when those were hi-tech), featuring both roots, dancehall, and hip hop. He moved back to Oakland in 2003, and Aztlán Roots was born.

He currently has a number of residencies, including Fresh Jamz with DJ Odiaka.

MR. E

“One of the most respected DJs to grace the Bay Area, Miguel Escobedo has been manning the decks for over two decades, starting in 1987.

In 1997, he landed a gig the Beatlounge (at Club Deco), home to the San Francisco underground turntablism scene home to world renowned DJs Apollo and Shortkut.

He started promoting and produced the event, “Da Joint”, where brought a lot of world famous and local DJs to San Francisco. Mr. E has DJed in almost every club in the city and graced Rock the Bells for four years in a row. In addition, he has worked with most of the top promoters and renowned artists, such as True Skool, Massive Selector, Distortion 2 Static, Triple Threat DJs, the Beat Junkies, the Executioners, the Rub, Local 1200, Jah Warrior Hi Fi Shelter, Mos Def, KRS 1, ?uestlove, Grand Master Flash, De la Soul, Big Daddy Kane, Sister Nancy, Collie Buddz, 5th Platoon, Talib Kweli, etc .

In 1999, he opened the restaurant, “Papalote” with his brother, which has garnered much attention recently as they won the culinary battle against the Food Network’s Bobby Flay.”
